Too bad, it sounds like just what I want. I don't need more than a single disc, and I HATE the stupidly high stall on the stock TC.

I'm thinking about buying this one for my truck. I've bought from this site before with good success. http://ktperformance.net/i-6685077-d...ngle-disk.html

Well the price sure looks good, but they don't really expound on what actually sets them apart from stock. 600HP capable it has to be more than a billet cover and fluid pre-charge. I was looking at this place, and I don't know if it's any better or not, but they do write a convincing list of what's upgraded: Diesel Performance Converters 770-318-8696 Converters

The one you posted looks good also, guess its a guessing game, but yours offers a Lifetime warranty. so that is a plus I'd say. I sent the KT an email asking some questions about the converter they offer and what is done to make it better.

After talking with a local torque converter rebuilder. I'll be either going with my local guy or a DPC. this local guy took me back in the back and showed me all the in and outs of why a stock convertor fails and what is done to upgrade them.

Sounds like a good shop to give business to. I had the same experience with the place I went to. He has been more then fair with his warranty, and I treat him just as fair. According to him, I'm the only guy that has called in asking if he has a bill ready yet.

Sounds like I need an upgraded valve body. Without previous experience with transmissions. Can I do the valve body installation myself? Just laying on the ground without a lift. I have access to a local shop that does the valve body upgrades. Just buy the new one with a substantial core charge. Or should I let them do it?

Well here is what I've learned, no one is going to tell you exactly what is done to a valve body to make it better,(seems to be a trade secret) but if you have an understanding how a valve body works, then get yourself a good shift kit. I'm not going to say thats all an aftermarket valve body is, but I will say that basically all you get with an aftermarket valvebody is one with a shift kit installed.
