Default Code 1693 & 216- cause dead pedal?

Those 2 codes are the only ones coming up. My 2001 has the dead pedal syndrum and I'm wondering where to start checking. It almost always is dead the first mile or so and then it's just random the rest of trip. No consistant reason for when or why it does it. Please help me figure this one out....i'm going nuts!

How many miles are on the truck? And do you know what your fuel pressure is doing?

p0216 is injection pump fail... 1693 is ecm/pcm companion code. basically you need a vp44

93.000 miles. Have replaced the lift pump twice in its lifetime. Just was hoping the problem would be something other than the vp44. I still have hope but it's fading fast. I just don't get why the truck will run fine most of the time. It acted up going to the bar last night but all the way home it was fine. No rhyme or reason to when it does it other than just about everytime I first get in it.

Sadly to say that I have put a rebuilt injection pump on my truck and it runs fine now... no dead pedal or any other problems. I'm learning more about this 24 valve deal all the time. The pump itself isn't bad, it's the f-ing computer on the pump- which comes hand in hand when replacing. Oh well, a few hours in the shop and about $1100 and she's good to go again.

Did your truck blow a lot of white smoke at start up??? Then spit and sputter for a while? Just curious because I'm having problems with mine and I'd like to know what it is for sure before I waste my life savings on a new ip if that's not gona fix it.

Yep.... it did what you say yours is doing with the white smoke and the flipping of the switch deal. It took me awhile to believe it was the pump but in the end it was. SORRY.
