Dumb question but I am still asking
Ok I am not new to diesel trucks but this is my first dodge and my first cummins. Ok as all cummins engines it has the wts (wait to start) and check engine light. On this truck the check engine light usually stays on longer than the wts light but a second or two later the check engine light will turn off, my question is should I wait for both lights to be out before I crank the truck. On the two diesels I have had before the check engine light would stay on until the truck was started but with the cummins it turns off. Thanks for the help.

I don't even wait for wts light to go off in the warm months jump in crank it up. Now during the colder months I'll wait for the light to go out but just the WTS light. Only time I worry about the CEL is if it stays on while running. My suburban does the same thing with the CEL it just the ECM going thru its cycle. When its done it goes out.
If my truck hasn't been run for a few days. I will let the lift pump cycle before I'll crank it and let it warm up a bit before I take off. make sure the fuel is pumped up to the IP. But thats me , and my truck others might tell you different.
