I have a friend with a snap on scanner, you VP44 Codes are p codes so they will come from the PCM... I dont entirly trust the key trick because it only show active codes and not inactive or history codes thats where codes will hide.

If you can find a scanner that can read the PCM, and read inactive or history codes is what your after..

Im sure your pump took a dump on ya though, I know its hard to wrap your head around it that it died one day but they do. No warning just pack their bags and leave.if you pull up a P0216 Code your pretty much cooked the pump, Here are codes to look for when you scan
P0216 (often referred to as the code of death and most common code for VP44 pump failure)
P1688
P1689
P0215
P0251 - P0260

So I just cracked all six lines tighten them one by one as they started spraying fuel. After closing 4 she finally turned over and started dieseling. Closed the last two one at a time and fired it uP and let her run for about 10 minutes. Seems to be running fine but there is still a bit of white smoke coming out when I rev it. I plan to do an injection pump purge to try and clean my pump and injectors. What do y'all think? Do you think my pump will be fine after that?

Maybe, did you put a new lift pump on, white smoke can be clouding, or antifrezze, or the fuel it self, it not pouring out, drive it around I would still look for codes and check the history codes and if you have doubt in your lift pump change it its not hard either, I go from the top undo the quick disconect then take a 3/4 wrench undo the fitting and undo the 3 nuts holding it on and wala your dont 30-40 minutes at most.

I got two stories for you, Ive had two buddies where there cummins just died one day, well one was unlucky who did not heed my words of no less than 12 psi at idle and killed his VP44 the other his Lift pump died and wouldent supply fuel, well maybe now your VP44 doin all the work now, so if you have doubt in your lift pump change it, 160 bucks is cheaper than a grand my friend. If your still have concerns or question give us a shout, im keep pokin my head in here for ya today. Ill even give ya my cell if you need it.

Well I have a raptor 100 fuel pump I just don't know how to check the fuel pressure now. I guess I'll hook up my gauge and jut mount te sending unit on the body or something. I think my truck was just running on the vp44 for a little while so I got the raptor. Do you guys know much about an injection pump surge to clean it out? I really appreciate all the help guys I was scared shitless for a while there hopefully it was just unprimed...guess I'll be carrying a 3/4 inch wrench around with me everywhere
