Default Wastegate stuck open?

I have been having a problem, cant get my boost to go over 10psi, after work today, I was messing with my turbo and noticed that the wastegate seems to be stuck open. Anyone ever experienced this problem, and if so, what were the symptoms. I have a ton of black smoke, high EGTs, and no boost. Im going to pull the turbo apart this weekend and see what is going on inside. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My buddy did a pressure check at his shop, and found nothing. At first I thought it was my intercooler, but it appears to be good. On the side of the turbo, there is a small lever that is attached to the wastegate, it is stuck, and i believe in the open position. From what I have read and heard, these symptoms could be caused by this. When I put the motor in the Excursion, i had to clock the turbo to make it fit right, and Im wondering if I somehow damaged the valve while doing this. Im going to take it apart this weekend and look into it some more.

i had this problem aswell my truck is a 2001.5 with 300,000 plus miles i fixed this problem by taking a 1/8" needle valve and putting it inline with the waistgate acuater and the boost port. after you get it all in just close it off about 90% and you'll have good boost again! what happend to mine is the acuatur got weak from opening and closing all the time and couldnt hold anything past 13 pounds by limiting the flow it would take about 26pounds to push through the little opening causing the turbo to reach 26 psi befor the accuater got 13psi

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

you can also close it off more for additonal boost but that could be bad for the life of the turbo.
