So I was on my way to town this morning driving down the highway about 50-55 and my truck acted like it didn't know what gear it wanted it kept jumping back and forth I tried to move the pedal around so maybe it would just pick one but it didn't ( until I got mad and smashed it) does anyone know what could be causing it? Also getting a 1689 code although this wasn't the cause of the code I'm just wondering if there related.

 

very common theres a lot of ideas on how to fix this. I just wrapped the wire coming out of the back of the alternator with aluminum foil and black tape and also moved it up and away from the back of the alternator also check all the battery connections and any grounds you can find. this has been working for several thousand miles now good luck

be sure that your brake light switch is working properly.. could be the TQ converter locking and unlocking.
