Default Oil leak....still

Im having a problem with an oil leak on my truck. It started with the vent bottle getting a hole in it. It poured oil everywhere. I fixed that with a baby bottle and a zip tie attached to the front cover bolt. Now i have found that it still leaks around the front cover. There is a line of fairly fresh oil around the entire perimeter of the cover. All the bolts are tight. No leak at the tappet cover or the vaccuum pump/ps pump. Oil pan is tight and doesnt have any real leaks. What all does it take to seal that up? Anything else i should do while its that far apart? Truck is an 02.

Just replace the gasket and main seal, since the seal is in the cover.

No gasket on an '02. Gray RTV instead.

Didn't know that there was a difference in the front cover from 12 to 24 valve.

I don't know if there is but Cummins did away with the gasket for my year and newer. Not sure when the change occurred though.

my 01 is doing the same thing, I was in a pinch for time this winter, (still am) I cleaned the perimeter real good with brake clean and put some permatex on my finger and rubbed it in real good and it stopped it, but now is starting to come back, it lasted a few months but I plan on taking cover off and doing it right, I dont know if you have to take radiator out to do it, maybe someone out there has done it and can give some input.
