Default Looking at a 24 valve and 12 valve.

I'm looking at a 98 12 valve, and a 98.5 24 valve.

The 12 valve has more rust but five hundred less and been kdp killed. And fuel plate.131,000 miles.

The 24 valve has 141,000 miles and one rust hole below door and is completely stock.

Which should I go for? Which one has more issues typically? Are these trucks one of the ones that have the 2000 fuel system? Any thing else I should look for?

Both are good trucks, I like the simplicity and reliability of the 12 valve. Wheelwell rust is an easy fix, just replace the whole box or fenders. The rockers and floors require a little more work but can be restored.

Yeah.well I like the 24 simply because it's unmolested no upgrades bone stock, where as the 12 valve does and he hasn't owned that long.

24 valve is the way to go. add pusher pump and gauges you'll be all set.

I'd do the 24V if its cleaner. Also just a personal engine preference of mine too, you'll get opinions from both sides though! If you get the 24V just be sure to set aside an extra 500 bucks or so to put a good lift pump on it! That's a must.

One hole in the rockers usually opens up the flood gates to a lot more though. My gas '99 started that way, and the fenders and box quickly followed despite frequent washings. Just be aware theres a lot you cant see!
