I have heard this a lot, and I believe a lot of the talk stems from other oil dealers out there and people who are still stuck on the old filtration standards and 3k mile oil changes. Amsoil uses exxon mobil base stocks. The difference is the additive packages that each company uses. A couple years ago my local diesel shop switched over to only stock amsoil and run their oil because of the differences they noticed. I have been running Amsoil in my own vehicles and have had 0 issues going with the 15k miles or 1 yr changes on my truck, and first her accord following the maintenance minder had 75k miles when we traded it in and now her crv with 42k on it now. Neither of them burn any oil and the crv goes over 10k miles between changes following the maintenance minder. I do run the amsoil filters exclusively because they are higher capacity and and smaller micron rating than factory filters and napa wix fram filters. When I first started running amsoil my dad told me he loved the oil for his 2 stroke back in the early 80's but it was hard to find. So now my whole family is running the oil. The other day a Schaeffer's oil dealer told me I should switch to them because their oil is better so I asked him how much better if any and he could not answer that. If an oil is better I would like to see some proof not the just because I said so. I don't know a whole lot about Schaeffer oil but I hear it too is good oil. A full synthetic over petroleum based oil is a step up inmho. sorry for the long post but I just had to post my thoughts.
