Default P1689 2001 24v????

Hi all,

Whilst out in the truck tonight I started to roll on the power and build boost up a slight incline in 4th, the truck shut down for a second then came back, then shut off again, engine light came on.
I was gentle on the loud pedal for a bit then tried again and all was fine ! So obviously it's a bit intermittent.

The only code was P1689 which is communication between ECM and pump I think??
When I got the truck that code was stored but I cleared it and no further problems till now.
Am I right in thinking my poor VP is dying ????
Any thoughts appreciated
Cheers
Paul

Well I've got a raptor 150 and GDP big lines so im pretty convinced that fuel supply is good enough, however the damage could have been done before I got the truck and fitted all the mods??
The truck has 255k on the clock and I don't know if it's the original VP, any way of telling?? Is it just a case of being worn out??

The Smarty wouldn't cause the pump to fail prematurely would it???

I remember seeing the void sticker, I think it has been broken but maybe someone has been playing before my ownership.
Driving the truck today it started to become more frequent so I'm thinking the VP ecu is dying. !

I set it back to stock map this morning with the hope of getting rid of the issue, it still reared it's ugly head but not as often. So I think I've got VP issues.
It must be where the smarty is making the pump work harder so showing the fault more often .
Any thoughts on where the best place is to get a new VP???

Need somewhere that is happy to ship it to the UK, more expense !

that sounds like your on the right track as to where to get one i got a remanufctured oem one through a local cummins shop being in the uk if you have a shop that can do it that may be a good option but you could maybe post a new thread asking where a good place to go through i know some of our members are venders as well hope that helps.
