Ok,Any ideas?Looking at a 2001 3500 4x4 with a NV5600 and the shifter was spongy.I couldn't feel it go into gears like my Rangers 5 speed.Is this a normal deal when they get miles on them? Is it just bushings(the ford had 2 plastic half spheres).That is the only thing really making me worried about pulling the trigger on buying.If it is just the shifter itself and not rails or any internal parts,wonder if a short shifter would fix the problem.

 

could be loose shifter housing bolts or the shifter housing itself. there are two shift rail detent plugs on the case that might could have loosend up, other than that it could be shift collar detents in the synchro hubs worn out but, the last two should cause a falling out of gear concern aswell.

 

no falling out of gears.I Romped down on it pretty good and let out of the throttle still in gear a few times.Never oved out of gear.It did have a slight 3rd gear grind once.Just feels spongy.Really can't feel the gates.
