I will soon replace my OEM clutch in my 02 3500 5.9 dually...is the South Bend Con-O clutch all that superior to the Dodge( Mopar ) clutch? I have a HO engine 245 horse, 6 speed ..tow my 18 foot Harley trailer with 2 bikes in it..Thanks in advance. Doc

That is a much better than stock clutch. But depending on what your going to do to your truck id look at a stronger clutch

I have a 50 HP chip but haven't put it back in after the ECM was replaced last year....other than that I don't plan on any significant upgrades...it pulls my trailer just fine. I think an OFE would be too stout for my purposes.

Stock clutch will work just fine. I have a POS replacement from advance in my 99 and it will still pull three cars no problem. You just won't ever have to replace the SB if you do it right. I got ~120K out of my stock clutch in the 07 with a mix of towing heavy and daily driving.

I have about 85k on my Con OFE with pretty significant power upgrades and not one problem since putting it in. It took a bit of getting used to, it's a bit more 'sticky' than the OEM, most noticable when backing a trailer. It will chatter a bit backing a heavy trailer, so I just put it in 4-low. If 4-low is an issue, you can either buy or make your own 2-low kit that disables the front end. I personally know of a few dozen of these clutches on the road with no issues and from years on diesel boards I know SBC has stood behind their products no questions asked. Your ideals of remaining stock are good ones, stick with'em and good luck on your choice.

100,000 miles plus of heavy towing and the occasional saturday night hot rodding with some pretty decent power and never one issue with my SB DD..
