Default short bed dually build.

so this week ive been doing a full body swap. im going from a 99 reg cab 3500 dually to a 97 extended cab. not the cab i wanted exactly, 98 and up would have been my first choice but $300 for a complete donor truck made my mind for me. i have seen a few post lately about this so i thought id post my process.

first id say a complete donor was a great choice due to differences. here are the differences i found
wiring harness
dash
hvac ducting (due to fan motor wiring and the fact my donor was full of mouse nest and smelled terrible)
cab mounts in middle and rear
cab heights (body lift was necessary to clear fuel tank and frame in places)

this project is a lot of work but deffinately do-able!
hope this helps someone.

I looked at one of these at a car lot when I was in the market. But that conversion, looked to be just a 2500, with the front wheel spacers, and someone mounted the dually fenders to the short bed. Looked kinda weird at first with ex cab, and the short dually bed. But the more I thought it, it would be good for towing. It was sold before I could get back to it.

the cab and body are done! i have drove it a few times now with no issues. i hope to finish the flat bed today. at least phase one of the flat bed. phase two extends it over the cab off of the headache rack for a safari rack look with lights. phase 3 makes it dump. this thing turns like a dream! ive always owned crew cab and quad cab long beds and had to park in the back 40 at the stores just to be able to fit. i am hoping for warmer weather so i can bed liner the whole truck soon!
