Default looks like my truck may get totaled out.

Well Monday was picking up my fiances little sister up at the high school at the end of the day and went to leave and when I was passing the student lot some kid tried to turn left in front of me and I had less than 10 ft to react and t boned the he'll out of his car. Had Just gotten up to 30 mph and he shot out before I had time to hit the brakes. His car is obviously totaled, his drivers side a pillar is in the middle of the car. My truck suffered damage to the bumper, lights, fenders, hood, grill, ac condenser, cac, radiator, and the clutch fan seized up during that some time (just replaced it 45 minutes before this happened). I'm estimating damage around 3500 dollars but insurance is coming today to look at it hopefully and hopefully they wont total it.

Everyone is okay from the wreck, the driver from the other car only broke his collar bone and the passenger just bumped her shoulder. In my truck got real bad whip lash and some other minor injuries. The cops found weed in the kids car on scene so if they total out the truck I may have a chance at getting somewhere considering I think he tested positive at the hospital.

Anyways just figured id share my misfortune with everyone and if they total the truck im going to probably start a build thread for the "resurrection" of my truck.

I think you'll be fine. I was worried about that after our nasty storm this summer with 80 mph winds. My truck needed 5,000 dollars worth of body work and paint match and insurance paid for it.

Its the fact its almost 13 years old and has 187000 miles on it that worries me

Let me rephrase that, I'm worried insurance will not give it the value it is worth and total it over repair cost. I kbbed it at 7 thousand private value giving it more to the bad side to see how low it'd be so guess depends what percentage they total at.

If they total it they will cut a check for the value they set on the truck.

But yeah I already decided as hard as it is to find a good truck in this area with low miles and in good shape like mine is next to impossible especially at what they'd give me, that I would be best of buying it back from them and fixing it myself. I know I can do it its just a matter of how long it will take to save up for all the parts needed.

As far az replacement I believe its only good when you have full coverage which I dont have, just liability. Never needed more because I paid in full for my truck when I got it.

Typically insurance won't cover all your aftermarket upgrades, performance parts. They will give you what it's worth and that's it . Good luck
