Default Auto tranny upgrades

Hey guys Im new to Diesel Bombers as of about 10 minutes ago and was wondering if i could get pointed in the right direction.

I just bought a 2000 24 valve 1 ton auto and I'm looking to upgrade the tranny because I haven't heard much good about em. The truck is bone stock now but I plan on a tuner and mild injectors in the future and I don't want a manual. I don't plan on racing it or pulling it but i do plan on quite a bit of towing. I have a Toyota that I bringing on wheeling trips and rock crawling events around the area. I guess Im looking for a tranny that will hold up on long trips and can handle the occasional stoplight drag race. Any info/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
thanks guys

You tranny will handle mild upgrades.. but if it's bone stock I'd be looking into a pusher pump like a Raptor or FASS, and a programmer with egt, boost, and fuel pressure gauges built into it, or run the pillar pod gauge sets like alot of guys have... Those gauges and a pusher pump will be the best investment you'll ever make with these trucks.

like said above you need a fuel system and a good set of gauges. a stock trans barely handles stock power... anyways it really depends on miles of the trans as to what you should do. imho save money and buy a good towing trans or start buying pieces to have built as you can afford to. good triple disc converter, good valve body, billet input handles lock up of a triple disc especially if you put a lock up switch in it. suncoast extreme rebuilt kit and a shop that can put it all together for you

Yup, Ideally a fully built trans would be best! But if thats out of your price range a TC and valve body will definitely help you out
