The wastegate is actuated by the boost made by the compressor side of the turbo. Making the hole bigger will allow the wastegate to open sooner. If the elbow has a allen screw in it, turning it in will increase the boost psi.

UGH its no use. your first sentence is right on the money the second sounds like a 2nd grader said it.

if the waste gate

open sooner it = less boost
open later it = more boost.

check yourself before you wreck yourself... opening up the hole will drop the pressure the wastegate opens at.. it is VERY simple

ow guys ow...

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

just put the stock elbow back on there. lets us know if you get less or more boost. we will continue this then.

hahahaha i think ive pictured the elbow you have so veagly discribed. one side of the elbow is big like normal and the wastegate side is very small??? is this correct? if so than on that particular elbow by all means drill it out one size at a time. that will make it open faster. it will equalize faster with more similar sized holes. the elbows i mess with have an actual 3rd hole venting to the atmosphere making that hole bigger will have the adverse effect, discribed above. ahhhhhhh -goooose fraaabaaaaaa- i hope that is what you guys were getting at so you all can quit bashing and start helping this guy learn.

Give me day or so. I'll drill it out and see how it goes.

Theres a seller in CA on ebay that has the elbows for 11.95 and like 3 to ship. So, 15 bucks and your good to go.

put together a sweet little hx35/40 hybrid. did mine with parts from ebay and BAE for a little over $300, she spools up a lot quicker than my stock hx35. and like you, I back out of her at about 35 psi, not knowing quite what my head bolts will really contain. Also, I don't even have a wastegate anymore, and it doesn't seem to be an issue.
