01 cummins electrical
I have an 01 cummins w/6 speed. decided it don't like to run. while driving once warm the tach jumps then dies. checked out fuel pressure and was at 12 psi so since at low side of spec I replaced. didn't fix. plugged in Genisis and found crank sensor issue(01 does not have) so while talking with Cummins we decided to replace the cam sensor. Still does. cleaned all grounds and power wires. still dies. next step pump. sent in and had rebuilt. paper work came back and said bad head, rotor and controler. installed and still problem. I am thinking ECM but would like to know other thoughts.

It's behind the starter. Advance, napa both keep some in stock around here. I'd net that was it the whole time. If that doesn't work run the pump independently of the ecm/pcm and see if the issues persist.
I wouldn't that can be dangerous and bad for the pump... He is right, do the crank sensor. My '00 had it go, and other than my brother breaking it off in my block is was easy fix

And I got my sensor from Cummins, I just don't trust what napa sells, especially after I got a window motor that only lasted a friggin year from them.

It's not a good idea to do this without the tool tho.
Dad just got off the phone with cummins and with the engine # they said that all the engine timing is controlled by the cam sensor and it has a plastic plug where the sensor should be. this is what he found when examined. also thanks for the pics of the tooling.
That's a first for sure. Did you take the starter off to see the plug? What is you esn and cpl #?we work on these trucks every day, and as I said there is a 01 6spd here now that just got a crank sensor. You must have a 1 in million.
