Default should i change tranny fluid?

so i just bought a wrecked 99 and ive been slowly puttin it back together. i just took it for the first test drive and the tranny shifts a little weird. it wont shift unless i let off the throttle. im going to put a governor pressure solenoid and sensor in it and adjust the tv cable. but i was wonderin should i change the fluid, it has 191,xxx on it and it looks kinda scary
thanks mike

Just install a Stage VI Suncoast Just kiddin! But if it looks scary you can try changin it. You need ATF +4 for your trans I believe

I think you have to pull the pan the replace those parts, so it' gonna get at least a fresh gallon to start with, right?

Yes, that probably has a deep pan, so more like a gallon and a half.

Some fresh fluid and a filter change will probably buy you some time... Not a whole lot though

Check the adjustment on the bands, mine did exactly the same thing and I threw all the solenoids and pressure transducer at it and still did it!Adjusted the band and problem went away.Make life easier and install a drain plug on the trans if theres not one already it makes saving that expensive ATF+4 a lot easier.
