engine ecm or v44 control modual failur?

 

That would be a VP44 issue normally. But there have been a few occassions where the 1689 code can be thrown by a bad fuel pump relay in the main fuse box. If you pull this relay you can crank you truck without it starting. but it will throw the 1689 code in the ecm. But more than likely the vp is on its way out

P1689 - No Communication Between ECM and Injection Pump Module Data link circuit failure between ECM and fuel injection pump. Low power, engine derated, or engine stops.

 

If you go to blue chip diesels website he has a great troubleshooting write up, and tells you how you can make sure 100% its your vp. Is the truck dead? If you get the 0216 code then shes cooked for sure

 

truck runs idles rpms up,burps like tps going out.had my injection pump shop fax over oem trouble shoot sheet oem wire harness its good looks like recon engine ecm installed not to long ago my little car dealer ship keeps buying these dodges from auctions stupid!!! good for me ha ha ha.but no vehicle history thanks for the input...
