I have had my '01 for over a month now and still cannot figure out what the clear button under the rear view mirror does? Maybe i'm way out there on this one but does anyone know what this is? anyone else have this?

 

It dims the rear view mirror. i had my truck for 4 years before i found that out

Lolz, I couldn't figure it out either... finally dawned on me driving one night while this idiot had his brights on just back far enough for them to shine over the bed. So I was about to yank the mirror up when I thought about the button...amazing.

I got into her on the gravel road and he backed off...

 

Yeah it's to reduce the glare of high beams so they don't blind you. It's not noticeable during the day but once it gets dark you can really notice the difference. Just push it in and it should glow a green-ish color when it's on. Mines' always on but I get p.o.'d when someone turns it off.
