My buddy hopped in his truck took off fine and just died starts back up idles fine put when you push the accelerater it spits and sputters and wont climb up above 1000 rpm i changed the fuel filter and still running like **** any ideas on what it might be? lift pump kicks on..Any suggestions would be helpful

 

Scan for codes. Does he know his fuel pressure? whats he got for fuel system mods?

 

Check engine light came on will scan for codes... truck is stock besides exhauset and quadzilla xzt drag comp

 

Sounds like the TPS or injection pump..

did you find out what your problem was? My 99 is acting exactly the same. Fuel pressure is good (16), using blue chip diesels troubleshooting guide, the injector pump checks good. Could it be the ECM not telling the injector pump to accept more gas. Thanks for all your help.

 

Had a friend read my codes. It came up 1688 (death code). Replaced the IP, everything seems OK now.
