I have a problem with my engine. It starts easily, idles smooth, and runs great for around 5-6 miles. At that point the service engine light comes on and the engine goes into limp mode. It has the power at that point of a wind up car. I can pull the truck over and let it sit at idle for around 5 - 10 minutes and the light goes out and I can continue for another 5-6 mile's and the same thing happens. I took the truck to the shop and they put a teater on it and it had a faulty throttle pedal code. I replaced it and the same problem persists. Any ideas?

 

when the light is coming on what code does it give you? you can do a 3 key off engine on cycle and get the code

 

my truck does not give me a code. It is a 2000 f650. I have tried to get a code with it and fail. What is the proper way to do it?
