you could replace the limited slip with a detroit locker that fits inside your carrier thats the only upgrade that i can think of....are you making alot of power or sled pulling or are they breaking with normal driving?

First time it Broke I was pulling a friends bass boat, second time it seemed like it would lock up and not slip but looking at the clutch disc they were slipping. And once again pulling a bass boat. Some power 475hp never hooked up with a sled maybe want to in future. Now the detroit locker just replaces the spiders?

yeah they used to call it a EZ locker and it replaces the spiders and clutch's and cross pin, but i am not 100% sure that they make one for a D80

how do the packs look in yours? allmost sounds like maybe its lockup up on ya and causing them to break maybe

i've seen D80s fail but its usually sled pulling not just pulling a boat, makes me think there is possibly something wrong inside the diff

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

ok i done some more research for ya and detroit dosnt make the ez locker for the 80 but powertrax makes something similar

PT 2710 - PowerTrax $485.79 [13.20 Lbs]

Lock-Right locker for Dana 70 & 80 differential with 35 spline axles
Lock-Right locker for Dana 70 and 80 differential with 35 spline axles. This is a mechanically-operated unit which locks when power is applied, giving full power to both tires, and unlocks when you let off the gas. The Lock-Right unit installs into a standard open carrier, offering a lower cost alternative to full-carrier lockers. These units are not recommended for applications with high horsepower or large tires.

i guess i dont understand what u mean by packs? but your most def right about it locking up and not unlocking. with this other locker you suggested am i going to have to drive differantly? (coast around corners) and it says big tires i am running 33s. a buddy told me to spool it

their are clutch disks that are inside the carrier we just replaced a set in a D70 this week because they were popping when the guy would turn sharp, the set for the D70 was around $80 for the clutch's only, in his the clutch material was gone and was causing it to grab so you could have the same problem.

yes the powertrax would be more aggressive then the stock diff

a spool would lock the 2 rear tires together all of the time which is great for competition only rigs but really dosnt work on the street, exessive tire wear, hard on axle shafts and so on
