My First Dodge Cummins
Hello everyone,
I just bought my first Cummins. It is a 2001 2500 quad cab Auto. with 150K miles/240K km. What do I do first? I am planning to do a complete fluid change. Do you have any recommendations for oil, gear lube, tranny etc? I am also thinking of a set of 285/75/16 BFGoodrich. What should I run for air pressure? I also need some small things. The truck did not come with a owners manual and the handle to lift the back seat on the drivers side is missing. Do you know where to find these things?

Get a fuel pressure guage on the truck ASAP. First thing to do to save money down the road and to make sure they weren't sellin the truck with a problem. Mechanical guages are cheap, less then $75 and could save a few thousand dollars in quit a few cases.
Welcome to the site. Lot a readin here and it's all gonna be important to you sooner or later.

I have been told this many times... Any suggestion on a good guage? What should I be running for pressure? I assume this guage goes between the two pumps.

Fuel pressure gauge is a must on the 98.5-02 Cummins. Fluids are always a good start and the 285's sound just about right. Might want to check the steering, suspension and track bar out for bad bushings, ball joints and such as well. Sounds like you have developed a good plan right off the start. Let us know if you need anything. And welcome to the Bombers...
