tranny problems
So I was supposed to go on a trip, hauling a 2500 lb enclosed trailer, we get about 200 miles south, and my buddy notices that my transfercases has leaked, we check the fluid only low a little bit top it off clean her up and decide to turn around. The return trip, about 100 miles from home, i hear something explode, get a violent shake, pull over only to see gear oil puking all over the road. Now i gotta try and figure out what is wrong

well, i drove it up the driveway, so i think i only blew a seal or gasket or something along those lines.....now to get it fixed and keep it or to get it fixed and sell it and get a 3r gen

I guess with all choices you weigh the pros and cons. Here you have a nice truck in mint to prime condition that I'm assuming you've done up just the way you want it, or pretty close. As always a new truck is going to cost more than getting yours fixed. Getting seals or gaskets replaced is a pretty penny but not bad. A buddy of mine recently had a real seal replaced and I think he said it only cost him around $600 which sounded high (he likes to over exaggerate.) My guess would be to find out where exactly its leaking from, and to see if there was any damage done to the tranny itself.

well if your running gear oil in the transfer case you have problems already.. it takes atf. I would just pull the tcase and take it to have it split and resealed. Mine did this on way back from ks looked like it leaked a ton put was down 1/4". I would say no to the 3rd gen and just spend a little on what you have and enjoy it. unless you want a true crew cab

well its kinda like a work truck, rubber floor manual locks and windows it has some rust, ive been wanting a 3rd gen quad cab for a while now this just may be the right time to make the move. Get the old gal all fixed up and go start another one haha. idk...im waiting to hear from the local diesel guy on a price to get this all looked at and fixed up, also needs a throwout bearing so might as well put a clutch in it too.
