Default Beefing up 47RE

Hey yall,

Wife is letting me take 10k out to show some love to my old Dodge. I HAVE to get a painjob, but I want to upgrade the turbo, exhuast and injectors, but before that I need to add some iron to the transmission.

Originally I planned to get the stage II ATS rebuild, but at $5k that really limits what I can do with the engine. My question is what is going to break first on the 47RE that I can replace now?

I would do a suncoast extreme rebuild, valve body, a good torque converter and a billet input shaft.

The truck in my sig has the suncoast extreme rebuild, upgraded valve body, and billet single converter. Hasn't broken yet but when I built the trans I never thought I was going to have as much power in the truck as I do now. If I knew I was going to keep adding power like I did I wouldve done billet shafts and flex plate also. No complaints though really, I agree with Luke.

Oh yeah, you should be able to keep the cost around $2500 if you go this route.

Great info. Here is what I have picked so far-

BD Diesel Stage 3 Rebuild kit
BD Triple Force Torque converter
BD 300 Billet Input Shaft
BD Deep Trans pan
BD Valve body

Total- $4339

Am I over doing it? Is BD overpriced? I can probably get a bit of a package discount, but this is less than $1,000 cheaper than just buying a stage III ATS Tranny.

Just to be specific about what this trans will need to handle-

100HP Injectors
BD Super B Turbo
Edge Juice/Attitude

I have thought about just going with 150HP Injectors and Super B Special....I just don't want so much power I am fixing the truck more than driving it.

I can save you $$ by going with a Diesel Performance Converters Torque Converter.

Don't do 150 hp injectors and a super b special, from experience. Runs hot and lags pretty badly. I do like bd products though. I think they are some of the best you can buy IMO

for what your paying for parts you can get a built trans just look. but I would look at other places than ats. oh and are you getting the super b or super b special? The super b and 100 or 150hp injectors would work well.
