Default speedometer not working right

Problem started a long time ago was driving to work and it just went foul it will jump around and work descent up to about 30 but won't go over that. I replaced the speed sensor on the pumpkin because it was chipped and nothing changed I can't find any obvious wiring issues so I weng ahead and got a good used instrument cluster and nothing has changed with that either so now that I feel quite dumb for wasting money I need some more advice. Also fyi the brake light is on but has been on forever and the abs light is on. Every other gauge works just fine.

Pull the differential cover off and check the tone ring. If there is metal or the teeth are chipped on it it will not read correctly. Also be a good time to check the ring gear and pinion for wear.

There is a speed sensor on the back of the transmission also that could cause the speedo not to work.

I just realized you have a 5 speed. I believe the speed sensor is only on autos.
