Rule is don't let the VP44 see less then 10 psi of fuel supply under WOT conditions. Any less, and you are starving the pump of its cooling capabilities. Fuel is used to cool the electronics in the pump, and the majority of pump failures are electrical.

I ran the edge EZ with the stock lift pump and the pressure dipped to low for me and thats just a little 65hp box, a smarty and edge even untapped will drop fuel pressure WAY lower than a safe level.

How long will it last, thats a loaded question, your vp might die in a week or it could last years, there are alot of variables.

Back before we knew better we ran the Comp (tapped) and 65hp injectors with the stock lift pump, we killed two VP44's in 2 years. They really do need a good supply of fuel and the stock lift pumps are junk.

I would get a fuel pressure gauge to keep an eye on it. Dont let it get below 10 psi

If ur running ur chip with it maxed out ur gonna starve ur vp44 becuase those stock auxiliry pumps can barley keep up with the vp44 on stock mode i would strongly suggest an air dog 150 compared to the price and the down time when u burn up ur v44 ya know !!!

got a fass 150 on mine, dont see fuel pressure below 14 or 13 at WOT, but yeah i strongly recommend an aftermarket supply pump, the vp isnt as bad as everyone says it is, just junk stock lift pumps that fry them

if you dont wanna spend the money on a FASS or airdog right now you could put a holley pump on the frame rail. ive done it before and it works perty good. itll definately buy you some time on the vp44. the holley black is actually made for diesel but the blue will work also
