I had the same prob with my airdog. I checked everything... Turned out it was the last thing I ever expected, a bad seal on the fuel filter! Replaced the filter and problem solved

I have the 150 on my 98.5 and have always had hard starting issues when it was first started in the morning. I found when I put a toggle switch to cut the pump power when cranking it would start fine. I've been doing this for 4 years and haven't replaced the VP44. I believe it is too much fuel pressure for the pump when cranking, but only when it's cold. Once it's warmed up it will start. FASS has instructions for there pump on how to wire it up to the window relay so power will be cut. I would not recommend that. I did get a ECM update from the dealer which changed the timing of the lift pump when cranking. If you use a switch, MAKE SURE YOU REMEMBER TO TURN IT BACK ON WHEN IT STARTS! It will run with out fuel pressure. Hope this helps

It sounds like you have a wiring issue. The airdog should not be actually running while the truck is cranking, it turns on for a brief second when you turn the key to run and should shut off almost immediately. If it's running while cranking that's too much pressure and it won't start.
