Default 2001 Sputter and stall ...no codes

hey guys...new to the DB but hopin for some tips

My 01 started dying out after about 20 minutes ..driving or idling

Coughs sputters....then the RPMs run up to about 2200 on its own and then it just shuts down
Couple minutes with the key off and it fires right up but usually will only run for thirty seconds or so and then same thing happens.
Ive checked the complete fuel system, running two lift pumps w/pusher at the tank
Changed filters, cleaned all lines and connections, fuel press never drops

Ive checked all the connections...grounds...fuses...relays...cant find a prob anywhere

It must be something electrical or the VP but iVe never seen one act quite like this one

The crazy part is its not throwing any codes and no check engine light.

Well first off welcome to Diesel Bombers!

I'm not sure what your problem would be, but have you ever checked or adjusted the APPS? Just an idea. How much fuel pressure do you have going to the VP?

so u have the intank pump? and a lift pump on the side of your block? if either pump is weak, it acts like a restriction. then that would be my guess where ur problems are coming from. your not supposed to run two lift pumps on these trucks. the reason for the rpm jumping after it stumbles is because it gets a good shot of fuel when its struggling.

Default fuel pressure

thanks for the replies
truck has a cummins pump on the block and aftermarket external at the tank
fuel pressure is approx 16 idle and 12-13 under load
this setup has been on for 4years and never had any problems

we did a flow test from the VP return and its approx. 1 gal a minute so should be plenty of fuel

ive got a full set of gauges and everything reads normal when it shuts down

a cpl months ago it stalled a cpl times and i replaced the cam sensor

when that happened it just shut off like you turned off the key

it did show a code then and ive had no more problems until now

im wondering if maybe the new sensor is crapping out and just not setting a code even though it should be
