it can go into lip mode for many reasons. the reason it does is to protect your truck from getting hurt. it kills fuel and timing and locks the trany in a gear. sometimes map sensor or the other 300 sensors on the truck . if it is in limp mode it will have a code (even if not check engine light). if you have done anything to the truvk lately (lights, changed relays, ect...) anything electrical. you can cause it to do that if you didnt do it right. start there. also pulling the battery off will reset it if you dont have the problem still happening. pay attention to it and see if different things cause it.... good luck

weel i have pulled the bettery terminals off lately and cleaned them wondering if that might cause it. i pulled the connector off the map sensor and it seems to run great now. it threw an injection pump timing code could that be from going into limp mode?

Vp trucks don't really have a limp mode aside from a type of transmission limp. I'll post the map wiring and computer pin out tomorrow.

216 indicates a failed or failing injection pump, probably the cause of your low power (combined with low fuel pressure making it worse) and 234 is a map code most likely not making your low power even worse. Get your fuel pressure checked and plan on a lift pump and injection pump install. This was what I was worried about, the vp can cause a dead pedal or low power output when failing that some contribute to a "limp" mode style problem when its really a failure getting ready to rare its ugly head.216 is not always the kiss of death code for the vp, could be a few minor items like connections and poor voltages but normally indicates the pump is dying
