Default 1998.5 Cummins 24v problems HELP

hey guys recently been having problems with truck ... truck started being hard to start so installed new airtex lift pump and the lift pump is not cycling with key on or bump start but every now and then it will but runs good when started, no codes, only modification is edge programmer .. any help would be appreciated .. Thanks

I would check the wiring to the lift pump. Since it is only cycling sometimes and not all the time it sounds like a power issue either in the wiring or the pump itself. Look for nicks, hard bends, chafing, and loose wires on the wiring harness.

Check the power to the lift pump.

sounds like the psg on the injection pump is bad. 90% of the time when they go out they will not throw a code. and the pump not kicking on and hard starts are the best way to tell what it is.

its the airtex lift pump. have seen this several times with them. put a carter lift pump back on it (the style frrom the factory) and it will fix your problem.

if i was gonna change the lift pump back to something i would just spend the extra few bucks and put either an airdog or a fass on the truck. if you wanna have the pump tested to be sure you can pull it and send it to either scheid or industrial injection. last one i sent in was around 100 for them to test it and send it back to me.
