Default ADVICE PLEASE:Replacing U-joints on front driveline...

I have to drive to SLC tomorrow am unfortunately for a funeral. I need to replace the U-joints on my front driveline, the one from the t-case to the front differential. I've done lots of U-joints, just never a double cardigan style like this. Any tips to move this along faster? I've got to get it done tonight. Thanks.

to take out the driveline, what's the best way to get the 4 bolts out on the t-case side? Doesn't seem like there's enough room to use a socket.

Thanks. No I don't have an air gun handy for this one. It's gonna take awhile.

Hey,

You may have already started, but here is what I learned when I did mine. There is a double cardone rebuild kit at like Advance Auto or Auto Zone. The reason why I mention it, if it has a lot of miles on it, might as well replace that as well. It is quite easy, just becareful with the spring that is in the joint at the double portion. Hope it goes smooth for you.

Thanks, I'll look into that. I've got the drive line out now I need to get the joints out. I don't have a vice or a press, am I going to need to go rent one?

A vice helps big time. Presses are nice too. I usually use a vice and a cheap $70 ball joint press a bought a while ago.

A hammer and a drift punch or some other round piece of steel that is the right size to drive the caps out works in a pinch.

Thanks. So I got the u-joints out with a hammer, but I didn't realize there was the cv ball joint in the middle of the two ujoints. Well once I pulled it apart all the pins fell out and it looks like I'm going to need to replace that now too. Anyone done that one?

Anyone deal with this? I'm in Utah, heading back to Idaho tonight and there's lots of snow. I have to fix this today, but I've never done this type. How do you replace that?

I found a brake and clutch shop that rebuilt mine with better parts and a greaseable cv ball in the middle, they did everything but put it in for me for about $300, same day service kind of stuff. hope that can help. btw, they would have just rebuilt it with oem style junk for about $250.
