All I can say is holy $h!t that's honestly the single most inexpensive mod i done, and no not everyone will experience the same outcome i got as every truck is different but i hope others experience the improvement i felt. I removed everything else that i done to my truck to help this situation and this was the fix, kinda feel stupid right now for not thinking of this myself

this takes about 45 minutes to do honest and thats doing another loom and making it neat and using zip ties.

 

Doing this right now, wondering if there is anything wrong with rewiring it. As in taking the thicker end and putting it on the left battery. Completely eleminating it from crossing over. I think it would work.

 

I see what your saying and I don't see a reason it wouldn't man let me know if you have a change in your truck after you do this. I'm liking mine

 

Ok, I have everything done up finally. I cut the 8 ga wire to shorten it an put a new ens on it allowing it to be connected to the left battery. I also spliced a few feet more onto the other piece allowing it to be connected into the original connector, and ran it to the left battery. Now both batteries are connected by this wire.
One thing I noticed is my 8 ga wire runs into 4 16 ga wires. Anyone else notice this? I sure hope my truck isn't more special than it already is.
So far I have noticed no difference in the radio squeal, just by running it in the shop. I'll drive it home as per normal and see what else I can notice for differences.

 

Mine also runs into 4 wires by the front drivers side of motor almost at the corner of engine

might try some foil on your antenna connection behind your reciever where it plugs in and cover it with electrical tape this should help isolate some squeal.

 

I just went to double check mine. I also have 4 16 gauge wires. not 3, at first glance i saw 3. anyways i.m glad this fix help and i absolutely love how my truck drives and shifts now!!

I'm pretty sure they make a filter for radio squeal, plugs into the back of the radio where the antenna plugs into. i thought i've seen a filter for the fords that deals with this to. might try a search or radio shack.

 

Don't want to hijack the thread, but there is no difference with the antenna plugged on or not. It's ridicules.

Unfortunately I haven't noticed any difference in my truck since the rewire. It was a good way to spend a evening having a few brew with some buddys though.

 

DTT, Suncoast and BD make fixes for this issue.

 

I believe this DIY is much cheaper though.

 

You are correct sir. I have used the DTT noise filter on several trucks with excellent feedback. More expensive but a quicker fix.
