Default clutch questions

lookin at upgradin my clutch pretty soon. stock one slips pretty bad if i turn up the quad and stomp on it. i was looking at valair single disks and found this one :
13" x 1.25" Performance Replacement
Kevlar / Ceramic Buttons
HD Spring Hub
Rated @ 500HP / 1000 ft lbs Torque
3400# Pressure Plate
Kit includes: Dual Drilled 5 Speed Flywheel, 3400# Pressure Plate, Clutch Disc, Release Bearing, Pilot Bearing and Alignment Tool.

Does this have everything i would need to do the swap to 13"? also what is all this about a 1 3/8" shaft and all that. wanting to do it right and do it once but not sure of everything needed and what all should be done while i'm there. not sure if valair is any good or if southbend is the only way to go?

That is a great clutch. It has the holding power of Ceramic but the smoothness of Kevlar. Just don't be doing boosted launches

that's what i have. works great. i don't race it so i'm sure it will last a long time. holds all the power. it's pretty much an on/off disc though. no slipping it when taking off. paid about $600 for the whole kit.

yes the kit has everything to swap to 13". It is a great clutch i loved mine till the front tranny seal let go and oiled it down. They hold great and are nice for towing.
If i had it to do again just once i would go with a dual disk and and the 1 3/8" shaft to start with but thats just my 0.02

If you want to do boosted launches you will need to go with a Dual Disc.

It is a great clutch for a daily driver. But it is almost impossible to back up a 35' goosneck or any heavy trailer for that matter. Like 19PSI said it is an on off clutch. No slipping it to try and back a long trailer into a tight spot. It will get really bouncy and the truck will jump pretty bad.

If you are towing a lot and backing trailers up often look into a South Bend feramic organic. Always smooth, and they hold the power just as good but drive like a stock clutch. I like Valair clutches but ceramics just aren't good for towing as I learned the hard way on my truck.

yes, backing a trailer is horrible with it. however, i made a 2 LOW kit out of spare parts I had, so now it's easy. pop it in 2 low and just let it idle backwards as i steer.
