SOVP44= standard output 215hp or 235hp
HOVP44= high output 245 hp
P7100= inline injection pump found on 94-98 cummins isb engines. Rated anywhere from 160- 215 hp. <<<<< Most reliable and ability to make more power

Best bank for your buck is a SO VP44. Unless your looking to spend a lot of money and invest a lot of time, stay with a VP44.

"go big or go home.... p pump it"

Yes, because everyone has that kind of money, and wants to get rid of the electronic injection features.

If you set up your VP44 truck right, there is no need to ppump it, you can get all of the power you need out of it, its just done differently than other trucks

Yep make sure you get a good lift pump and a fuel pressure gauge

I think you are asking what the difference between the injection pump and the lift pump are. The lift pump is the fuel pump and it supplies the fuel to the injection pump. The injection pump then distributes the fuel to the injectors in the correct order. Same basic principle unless it's commonrail injection found on the 3rd gen trucks.

Both the injection pump and the lift pump can be upgraded, most people are running airdog or fass systems as the lift pump and eliminating the stock lift pump due to a bum design and not enough fuel pressure. When the stock lift pump in these trucks doesn't supply enough fuel to the injection pump, which I add is fuel lubricated, the pumps tend to melt down and cost the owners over 1k to fix. The best thing to do is buy an aftermarket lift pump and make sure you have fuel pressure over 10 psi all the time even at wide open throttle. Most ppl are saying that vp44 upgrades to the hotrod pump and soforth is unnecessary and results in no further power increase after other mods have been added. Hope this helps

Ok from 1989-1993 the cummins had what they call VE Pump on them which is a mechanical rotart fuel pump. From 1994 to 1998 they have the P7100 mechanical inline injection pump which is the pump that makes big power for cheap. Then in 1998-2002 the have the VP44 which is a electronic rotary fuel pump first tunable on the fly cummins. In the years of the VP trucks you have the SO VP, the HO VP, and then you have the higher performance one like the MONSTER VP and the HOTROD VP. And now from 2003 to present they have the cp3 powered high pressure common rail engines. Hope this helps
