So im new here and have just gotten a 2000 dodge diesel automatic w/ 280,000 mile(i know its alot but it was cheap)
I have some gauges just havent installed them yet.

So here we go.... I got the truck yesterday and the lady i bought it from gave me a hypertech programmer with it. I drove it till today when i reset the hypertech back to factory tune. After that i has some problems getting it to crank. it would turn over fine buttin wouldnt start up. I messed with it for a while and got it running. It did this to me twice. then on the way home it dropped a little bit of RPMs like it was missing then finally picked back up. What should i look for or try? This is my first diesel truck but i have been working on gassers for some time. Sorry for the long post anf thanks in advance for any help.

 

Check your fuel pressure. The VP trucks are notorious for failed LP's (Lift Pump). Look at getting at the least a fuel pressure gauge and after market fuel pump.
