Default A/C compressor clutch squealing

My a/c compressor clutch has started squealing whether the compressor is on or not. I cannot find a source for just the clutch assembly. Is that an option or do you have to replace the whole compressor for $280?

I had my compressor do the same thing. Took it off and found the spring steel that keeps the compressor clutch disengaged 3 in total 2 were broke in half. Pump worked great just made a bunch of noise. Pulled the clutch assembly off and couldnt find a replacement clutch. Called the manufacture of the compressor "Sanden" and they wouldnt sell me the clutch. You would think if the damn thing is removable it should have a replacement out there. I ended up drilling the rivets holding the spring plates off, removing the plates and installing some modified plates back on the compressor. It actually worked pretty good. Took the noise away and it still pumps good. I fixed it a few months ago we'll see how long it lasts. Just didnt want to shell out 300 bones for a new comp.

I didnt take any pics of the fix but all you need is an A/C clutch puller tool, and some spring steel plates that match thickness and length. Drill holes in em and rivet them back on with heavy rivet locks. I could maybe reach down and take a pic of the compressor but it pretty much looks the same as on OEM set up. The only concern I have at this point is how well the spring steel and rivets are going to last. The factory rolled steel rivets were a pain to get off and hard to get some rivets back in. Was it worth the hassel? As long as it lasts. If it just breaks next season Im just gonna replace it with a new compressor that has a warranty.
