Default Need some smoke

Well I bought my long awaited Cummins last week its a 1998 24v with a EZ edge chip on stage three K&N drop in filter and a straight pipe to a muffler MRBP.

Well thing is i only roll very little smoke right now

Is there a simple tuning that i can do like the fuel plate on the 12v motor???

PLZ HELP

Thanks

Sorry no free smoke on a 24v. You need to put this in the aftermarket section.

well first and foremost welcome and cograts on the truck. Second youll need a fuel pressure gauge, and a fuel system of some sort such as Fass or Air Dog or a Raptor to keep the ever so important VP44 safe and happy

BK,

and congrats on your purchase. It seems about the only free mod for a 24v is to remove the siliencer ring from the turbo. That will provide you with no extra smoke. So the say goes " you have to pay to play" and that is very true with 24v's. When you have some free time, make sure to check out the threads and use the search feature. You will be amazed at the information that is here on the site. Good luck with your build.

From a different thread in regards to lots of smoke;

EH..... Cheap and easy way.... you can even get it at wall mart. Go back to the women"s section. Ask the clerk for a pair of extra large Granny panties. now go out to your truck and open the hood. put the panties on your head. take the bag they gave you and wrap it around the air filter jump in it and go. You will look just as dumb as the cloud coming out of the pipe.....
Granted this was about a smoke switch, but smoke isn't power. It's wasted fuel.

BK,

As I think about it more and more, as you build your truck up....ie...injectors, turbo....and all the other dude dads that go along with it....you will see and increase in smoke. Looking at the setup you listed in your original post, You may want to look into losing the K/N and pick yourself up at a minimum a BHAF. The K/N that the PO (previous owner) had one there was over oiled and the oil got sucked into the turbo and it was flat out nasty. Then start with the fuel delivery and make sure your set with that and a way to monitor that (guages). Then you could look into injectors and go from there. All this sounds great, but it you have a tranny that is still stock, it will not like all the additional power being thrown at it.

i don't know if it helps here but i just bought my H.O. 6 spd and its lifted. biger injectors. i slaped a k&n intake neck and a tractor intake filter on it. biger turbo. wired wastegate shut. turbo whistle out. bully dog outlook. 4 inch turbo back exhuast and (i know they say ur not sposed to use a edlebrock blue electric fuel pump on the 24v diesel) but it added alota horse and ended up geting me a ticket for to much smoke in city limits. it was the excess fuel coming from the high flow fuel pump that cuased the bulk of the smoke though so i thought id put my 2 cents in hope it helps!

No. The bigger injectors was the cause of your smoke
