Yep, actual code # would be most helpful.

It wasn't there earlier...
To the OP: P1693 is simply a companion code on our trucks, it means that another DTC was set in either the ECM or PCM. By itself, it means nothing.

I got this same code, and the truck has intermittent surging problems. So this code just means there is another code somewhere? Why isn't it giving me the second code then? I used the key on-off method to retrieve the code. So how do I reset?

You need a code scanner to retrieve the other code, and also to reset the codes. The odometer display does not show much, but it is still better than nothing...

I did find out on here that, using the key on-off method, you have to wait for the second set of codes. It says done after the first code, then gives you the second code after that. Just have to watch until the odometer reading comes back on. Try that and see what you get. Mine came back with a p1689 which is a fault from the electronics on the pump to the ecm. So now i need a new pump sucks. My wife just handed me a stack of bills she is not paying and moved out. NICE week. Maybe I will get hit by a comet now. Sorry for venting this just could not have happen at a worse time.
