Do you have an Auto trans or manual? They have different turbos. Either way, you can plug off the wastegate and it won't cause the turbo to come unglued. Lots of us are running our turbos with plugged wastegates. With my Edge, I can hit 36 PSI boost with my HX35. When running without the Edge, the ECM limits my boost to 28 PSI.

Since you have the Manual trans, meaning the HX35 turbo as well, it has a hose between the compressor housing and the waste gate actuator. Simply pinch it off by folding it over itself and holding it like that with a zip tie. Any way of pinching it off will work as long as no pressure can reach the actuator, and you don't create a boost leak.

There is the difference between the HX35 (left) and HY35 (right), and the wastegate line pinched off.

Ya all 99's regardless of trans had the HX35.
With the AD you should be able to hit what ever you feel safe in boost. I can easily hit 40+ no problem. I just have the boost elbow.

So how do you adjust the boost with the HY35?

I didn't really "adjust" my waste gate when I had a HY. I plugged it off completely. Doing this is a little trickier than the HX as is does not have a hose to kink. I took my actuator off, threaded a machine screw into the metal tube, then ground off the head of the machine screw. I then reassembled the actuator back onto the turbo and was done. It worked very well, and you could never tell it was done from the exterior appearance of the turbo!
