Wastegate stuck closed.
My wastegate is stuck closed. My boost is around 28-30 when stepping on it. My question is will there be any damage if I don't fix it? I was thinking about a boost fooler so that I get my power back from the defueling. Do I need to worry about anything? Truck has been this way for a good while now and I have hualed with it. It does good on the highway but when I climb hills in second gear(automatic) It just doesnt have any power. I think from the defueling that the computer is doing. When in second and climbing the hills I think it is setting the code P0234.(overboost). Anybody have any knowledge about this?

It wont hurt the stock turbo or the cummins engine to run 30psi of boost but dont run to much more then that stock exspecily with an automatic trans if it dont have much power pulling u might want to invest in a programing chip but if you get a chip an your turning up the fuel i would be sure to have gauges or you will more then likely blow the turbo or burn a piston if you dont want to do any of that take it to a shop to have the wastgate fixed I have a 97 12v 3500 i pull with alot and its turned up an im running 35-40psi an have had no problems with it but i watch my gauges an dont push the truck to it max for very long eather

my wastegate is clamped shut as well and i regularly hit 35-39 lbs of boost. i have had no problems yet ( been about 6 Months) the only thing i notice is the turbo chug when you are beating the **** out of it at high revs and boost and let off suddenly and all that boost has no where to go. once and a while i dont think will hurt it, but i have also heard horror stories of exploded turbo wheels too. BUT...i am not a mechanic.
