2 turbos in 2 weeks
Like to title there says just went through em. Im not running a whole lotta power or anything... Both were stock turbos.. Is this just bad luck or is there something else causing the shafts or bearings to go out?!?! i cant figure ive had this bad of luck. both were in good shape and one even had about 5000 miles on it. Was hoping there was a reason for it...

both have play in em all of a sudden and one went completely out and started tearing up my wheels...

I've always found it hard to "fill them up" before installing turbos, as they have a drain port allowing the oil out as fast as it goes in. I generally pour some oil in, remove a wire or fuse so the engine can crank but not start and crank it over for 10 seconds. Then reattach the wire and off to the races. Might not be a bad idea to check the oil pressure at the turbo, just in case the hose between the filter base and turbo has pinched, or there is a plug in the filter base itself.
ok ill try that. oil pressure could be the problem...
and im not exactly filling em up with oil but ive let it run for awhile before i touch the pedal at all to let it spin for a bit... thinking it may get things going smoothly before i go wild on it

i have always put pure lucas oil into turbo bearings through the oil port before install what i did was got a small oil can the tip fits good into the adaptor for your oil feed line keep pumping oil and turning comp wheel until oil comes out the return side the lucas oil is much thicker than regular oil so it holds to the bearings better and longer i have been told you NEVER install a turbo without doing this proceedure knock on wood have never had an issue with turbo failure i would also check to make sure your turbo is getting oil from the filter head JMO
when was the last time u checked ur engine oil? if u got diesel in your oil, it can also cause the turbo to go out prematurly and also cause engine failure. might wanna check and make sure u dont have to much oil.
to much oil?!
and also if someone could tell me... on the back side of the turbo (exhaust turbine) how does that come out?! does it slide out or is it screwed out like the compressor wheel?!

Too much as in the level is rising due to fuel contamination. Although diesel has lubricating properties, it also breaks down engine oil. biged681985 is wondering if the oil level is increasing without more oil being added.
exactly, if an injectors is stuck open, or a cracked nozzle could cause fuel to get into your oil, which would increase the level of your engine oil, and also cause your oil to break down, and could cause the bearing to go out on ur turbo
