Default Front axle specs and possible ball joint solution

My ball joints are ready to be replaced again. I see some extreme duty options for 03 and up with the AAM axle from Carli and Dynatrac but my 01 is out of luck with the Dana 60. What are the specific differences in the knuckles and what are the chances that an axle swap would be a good solution?

i didn't see a price, but dynatrac has prosteer ball joints for your truck.

if i were to swap, i would go the other way--early dana with king pin knuckles and lockouts. IMO. do away with ball joints all together. my buddy has an 03 with the AAM and he says its worse than mine. granted he drives his megacab like its a porsche.

X2. Those things are damn near indestructible and will last forever if you install the bronze bushings and keep them greased.

I have the Dynatrack Prosteer balljoints in my truck, only got about 15-25k miles on them so far, but they seem to be doing really good

The rep from Dynatrac I spoke to last week told me that they didn't have them for my truck. He said 2000-2002 4x4 were off years for those trucks and they didn't see the demand enough to make balljoints for them. Was he mistaken? If it was an error on his part then that would be great, I'll get them, if not then maybe someone could share what I need to look for to get the earlier kingpin axles, such as vehicle makes and years I need to look for and what I might need to modify to get them to work.

You'd need an axle out of a late 70s ford. Kingpin, high pinion drivers side drop. Good luck finding one for a decent price, everyone and their mom with a jeep or an SAS chevy wants one. It's possible, but in my case after looking for one for under a grand long enough it was cheaper and quicker to build passenger side drop. You'd also need to build up 4 link mounts or switch to leaf springs.

Also, pay attention as they did use high pinion 8 lug dana 44s in a lot of applications.
