I see you have "custom trans" in your Sig, but what is it actually? Auto, Stick, 5/6 speed? That info will help for responses.

Did it always run hot, or is this something new that just started cropping up recently?

I have a stage 2 shift kit, and a triple billet T/C in mine. It runs 170/180 around town or on the hiway, always has since I've owned it. I'm going to remove the heat exchanger on the side of the block and probably change the cooler up front as well. The exchanger is coming out to make room for the S400 that will sit there. I pulled 10,000lbs a while ago and the heat got as high as 220, that too much for me.

That would be my opinion. 170 is nothing. ATF+4 is rated for over 300 continuous. Not that you'd want to be running on the hairy edge like that or anything, but 170 is nothing.

bypass your heat exchanger and have your front cooler cleaned out or get something better for it.

You really think that's good advice for somebody living in CO and evidently hauls even further north?
