Beer 2002 Cummins Brake Rotor FAIL

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from my driveway
Aboard my truck. Heading to a rescue shelter to get another German Shepard

The skipper was a mighty working man, Worked nights last night got home at 6am and ...up ...at 10am
The mate bitching and moaning we only got 2 hours to make a 2.5 hour trip.
Three passengers set out that day
For a five hour tour, a five hour tour.

The traffic started getting rough, 100 yards in to the trip
The truck tried to stop
If not for the courage of the fearless driver
The truck would be lost, the truck would be lost.

The truck split its break rotor,
the truck would hardly stop
With the Skipper hitting the breaks
And the Gilligan doing nothing,
chase was just along for the ride
Here in the truck. Here in the Truck

So this is the tale of the broken rotor,
the stock lasted 111,111 miles
Ill have to make the best of things,
and buy factory style replacements

The first mate went ahead in her mothers car
the Skipper stayed and worked on the truck,
they did their very best,
To get the days deed done
thats been planned for a month

Left with no way to get parts,
The Skipper had to drive his sister in laws car
to Advanced Auto Parts, Advanced Auto parts

So join me here next week my friends,
You're sure to get a smile,
From my broken truck escapades,
Here on "Die.........sel Bombers."

I'm in almost the same boat. Stock rotors got me around 70,000 and since then it's been about every 10,000 like clock work. I've tried from the cheapest Auto Zone ones to the most expensive EGR system rotors. Makes no difference, by 10,000 they are warped and ready for the scrap metal pile. Now I buy all Auto Zone Lifetime warranty brake stuff so I only pay once. Rotors, Calipers, drums, all of it cause none of it lasts on these trucks.

Question

Now what to do with the rears? Shoult I get slotted rotors and nice pads or just throw oem replacements on it?

Just go to Auto Zone or any other parts shops that sell lifetime warranty stuff and use it. EGR was supposed to be one of the best on the market and was one of the most expensive and they didn't last any longer then the cheap ones did.

My dad is a adviser at an auto zone distribution center , so i grabed his employee card and it was a special weekend so i got 30% off , i went a little crazy and spent $300 Got stuff for my truck and her car

Since my front rotors were all jacked up i desided to replace the rear ones and put new brakes on too

Good thing too !!!

and the brakes.....or whats left Metal on Metal Perfect Stopping Power !!

Ill mess with her car tomorrow , got to talk my self into changing spark plugs it goes against everything i stand for

wow...those are bad.

Whatever you do - dont put ceramic pads on. Its much easier to change pads than to change rotors.

My 01 has an exhaust brake - Im still running the original pads
