tranny gave out? What do you think?
bone stock 2000 3500 dually, 24v.
I was pulling a 32ft enclosed trailer with a car in the back down the highway 60-65, tach was just under 2K then about an hour into the trip the tach went to about 2500 and it would not go. I pulled to the side of the road left it running and checked the tranny fluid and it was full and did not smell burnt, i looked under the truck and nothing was leaking or burnt either, what do you guys think happened? Could it be the converter? If you need any additional information please let me know.
I dont have a tranny temp gauge but will be adding one once I get this fixed.
THANK YOU!!!

Mine did that exact same thing about 3 weeks ago pulling my TT. I did the same thing, pulled off to the side and checked the fluid. Everything looked good except the tranny temp was above normal about 30*. I let it cool and it has been fine since. No slip at all that I can tell.
I happen to be friends with and live near Tony Garcin who until recently owned Dunrite. I did some sheetrock work for him several days ago and we talked about it. He thinks I need a converter but it felt to me like the converter was completely released not slipping. He still has his Snap-on tools so we are going to hook up the TT and take it for a spin one of these days and then we can check for slippage. We did that once before when he was having some slippage on his rig. He had 4% slippage and mine had none with the same load at that time. I had no codes with the key trick. I'll try to update after we do that but it may be a few weeks.

well the shop has not pulled it apart yet but says that it sounds like the converter or pump. Even after cooling down it will not go into gear.
This just adds to the mess of this truck. Here it is in a nut shell, I purchased froma friend(at the time)for $10K,and he put a new head and turbo on it. He was told by the shope that did that work that the blocked was cracked and he had them dump in a block sealer, then he neglected to pay them for this work and a lein was put on it by the shop. Once I finally got it back after I paid the $4k bill I found it had the infamous "53" and of course it was cracked, so I replaced with another "53" only because I was lied to by National Parts Recyclers and they told me that it was not a "53" and tried to send it back but they said no returns but I did get $750 back so I got the complete motor with a VP44 and turbo with no core return for $2200. Had a shop put it in and the VP44 was bad so I was able to take that from my old motor but in the end I was charged $5K to put the motor in, and now the tranny is gone. Not sure if I should sell it and start with a more reliable truck or now that the drive train is all new keep it and cross my fingers!
