Default Tachometer and Speedometer quit

Both quit within 3 days. It started out with speedo not working then the next morning speedo would work but tach would not. Next day tach working and speedo not. Now neither works.

After searching I cannot find a conection between the two. Everything else works on the cluster and brakes still work fine. Also the odometer still works.

Do I need to replace the VSS and the tack signal sensor and treat this as two separate fixes or is there something else should I be looking at?

Small update: Today I was in and out of the truck with frequent starts and stops and both tach and speedo worked just fine.

As big as this site is I can't beleive there is not one opinion for this.

i apoligize for being so late with an opinion but it sounds like you could be right also have read where people had the same problem when there alternator started giving them problems but check your wiring to both the vss and tach sensors and does it effect the way that engine runs just a few thoughts i will be watching for you

I read the same thing but the alternator seems to be working normal with just a hair over 14v. With it acting weird I am going to clean up all the grounds.
