Yes, can be a bad gauge - have you tried another for a comparison? You can use any type of mechanical pressure guage.

That being said, how is your gauge installed? Do you have a needle valve or pressure snubber to dampen the pulses from the VP-44?? If not, the pressure spikes will quickly damage most pressure gauges.

I would add that there have been a few different gauges that have had problems because the sending unit wasn't grounded to the truck. I don't remember the brands, but I think it was at least two brands. The cure was simply a ground wire attached right to the sender!

Do you use any fuel additives? I experienced one that made my truck 'miss' at idle. As soon as I stopped using it the problem went away so I re introduced it and the miss or studder came right back. Along those lines I would even try several full tanks of fuel from a different company and see what that does for you.

Let us know what you find on this! And Welcome!!

Or Mr.Mech got some dirty in the lines, your probably right about worn out thou.Seems like everytime I have changed a vp pump its seems to develop a miss from the increase pressure on old injectors(they not likely to much). I say increase meaning a new pump.

i am not using a need for the fuel pressure and ive been told what you told me about damageing the gauge. im gonna do that how and get a better gauge the ac isnt on so i know thats not it. i just put a 6 inch lift and 37s on my truck and now have 4 inch straights and the fuel pressure problem has kinda died out its weird its acting fine but it still kinda shutters like its missing at idle but its not a constant thing any more i just wish i could figure it out i had it hooked up to a diagnostic yesterday and there were no codes at all

You still runnin the factory fuel lines by any chance. Sounds to me, after this last post that your gettin air in the lines someplace. When you lifted the truck you straitened those lines out and are allowing the air to move through the system and not build up pockets before it get's blown through.
