What is the reason for switching from oil lubrication to fuel lubrication? In the injection pump?

 

Perhaps that hot engine oil would cook the electronics in the VP44. Then why would one design a system that uses fuel for cooling, and oil for lubrication. These pumps came out before ULSD was introduced. In my opinion, it had better lubricating properties. Many people run a conditioner with these truck, and some 2-stroke oil, just for added lubrication.

 

would adding lubrication like amsoil help the pumps life and keep better fuel pressure?

 

It wont change your fuel pressure but it will help the pumps life
